GALAXY NOTE 5 & S6 EDGE + : FIRST LOOK
Samsung at it's event on 13th of this month unveiled it's next Note and also an increment to the Galaxy Edge S6. Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is the most sellekest and powerful Note yet , but it's by far more elegant also. On the other hand the S6 increment , the S6 Edge + is just a phablet version of S6 Edge. Both the specs of the Note 5 and the S6 Edge + are exactly the same.
Both have a Samsung's octa-core Exynos 7420 processor (if you must know, four cores run at up to 2.1GHz while the others go up to 1.5GHz) along with 4GB of RAM. With this bit of hardware , the phone didn't slow or slag a bit , in spite of the Samsung's TouchWiz skin on top of it. If you have had an experience with the S6 or S6 Edge, then the latest TouchWiz by Samsung will really impress you as far as performance goes.
Both also have a 16 megapixel camera sensor with f/1.9 & OIS , which have capability of live streaming to YouTube directly. The camera of the previous galaxy was one of the top in the flagship's , now having the same sensor, will it perform alike or better ? . We will have to see till we get a full review of both these phablets. Both have a 5.7-inch, Quad HD, Super AMOLED 2560 X 1440 screens , which perform as crisp as display would have for this screen size. The picture is clear and bright and gives a great quality of video viewing. For better viewing the juice comes from a sealed 3,000mAh battery, which is not the best part. As the previous generation Note had a bigger battery with a decent amount of running time. Both the phones have fast wireless charging and fast charging , NFC and LTE category 9 connectivity.
Notes always seemed a little too cumbersome for practical use, but the Galaxy Note 5 is the first Note I've picked up in ages that doesn't feel broad and awkward to hold. The Note 5 back is like a S6 Edge front side, the back as two curved edges for better gripping. But in fact the glass like back is kind of slippery and it's feel's quite afraid to hold it. But the best part is the size of the Note 5 is not changed , in fact it just as similar to Note 4 but making it more thinner and the less bezels.
That and all sealed part is a little prick to some consumers and to some not.
The Note's claim to fame has always been the S Pen, a seemingly gimmicky stylus that tucks away in the phone's bottom edge. This year, though, we've got a slightly redesigned version; it's a clicky affair that lends itself well to nervous pushing, and you'll use that mechanism to unlock the pen before you pull it out of its slot.Besides the clicky segment, the Pen feels a touch more solid and sturdy despite its light weight. However the Note 5 has more features with the S pen now.
First and the best thing of the new Note 5 is that you no longer have to fire up and unlock the Note to start jotting things down.Instead, you can just start writing on the screen while the phone is on standby. Once the Note 5 detects the S Pen writhing around on its surface, it'll automatically start a subtle Instant Memo mode that takes whatever you're writing or doodling and funnels it straight into S Note. It's one of those intelligent little niceties that makes the S Pen seem immediately more useful. And the next are a few mods in the software by software, one of them is that you can now take long screenshots one after another of the same webpage or document.
On the other hand the S6 Edge + is just a screen size increment over the S6 Edge. This has also has all the features changed in the software. One of them is that now the edge has more functionality than the previous version which had edges. Now you can not only access quick people but also a swipe will let you access quick apps from the edge. Now you can choose between the people and apps which you want to have in the edge. It's more like a quick launcher for the apps and people.
In all the both phones have great specs and software's built in , but are not perfect. Like there's no expandable memory slot in case the 32GB or 64GB options just aren't spacious enough, and most of the tweaks and changes we've seen here won't be game changers for plenty of people.Still, the blend of handsomely crafted hardware, a great screen and way to use the S Pen almost immediately make the Note 5 the most impressive. On the S6 Edge + no far improvement i but looks like just an add on for people who want a bigger S6 Edge. The US carriers have announced their pricing, and you're typically looking at $250 on contract for the 32GB model, and $350 for its 64GB sibling. The review of both these phones are still in development, so stay tuned for a full review.
