AMAZON FIRE : A PHONE THAT DIDN'T MATCH THE EXPECTATIONS

AMAZON FIRE

Yep, it's finally here the most rumored Amazon product. Amazon officially unveiled the Fire today at a event held in Seattle. With the rumors building up consistently it was quite expected that it would launch it's first-ever handset. Amazon's first-ever handset has packed it with some competing stuff,it has a 4.7-inch Gorilla Glass display with an HD-resolution screen . It also has a rubberized frame with aluminum buttons on the side to make it a classier product. It's powered by a quad-core 2.2GHz processor and  Adreno 330 GPU supporting it is a  2GB of RAM. Photo-enthusiastic  users have the camera of  13-megapixel rear-facing one equipped with an f/2.0 lens and optical image stabilization and the ability to capture 1080p video. The phone's display is the usp of the product  and will have 590 nits of brightness, dynamic image contrast and a "circular polarizer," which will likely be used to combat glare. There's also a dedicated camera key and, it'll come with free unlimited cloud storage for photos as well.

Other features include global LTE and connectivity with nine bands of LTE, quad-band GSM, five bands of UMTS, 802.11ac support, WiFi channel bonding, NFC and Bluetooth. It even supposedly has great battery life, promising nearly 285 hours of standby time, 22 hours of talk time, 65 hours of audio and 11 hours of video playback.

As for sound department , the Fire booms with dual stereo speakers along with support for virtual Dolby Digital Plus surround sound. It comes with earphones with tangle-free, flat cables plus magnetic earbuds that clasp together. As you might expect, there are a boatload of entertainment-centric features too. There's X-Ray on the phone for second-screen functionality, ASAP (Advanced Streaming and Prediction) support and the ability to fling videos to Miracast devices (like, you know, that Fire TV). Obviously it also supports all of the Prime offerings like Music and Video, plus you'll get Audible, the Kindle Newsstand and Comixology as well.

The Fire will also ship with something called Firefly. It's a feature that uses the phone's camera to recognize books, DVDs, phone numbers, QR codes, CDs, URLs, games, bar codes and more. It also uses the phone's microphone to listen to songs. If it detects an item, you can quickly tap a button to purchase it from Amazon.

The BEST USP of the device is  that   Fire would  have an 3D interface. But it is not 3D (huhh!!!) , 3D interface will follow you around thanks to Fire's unique head-tracking system that he calls Dynamic Perspective. It uses four cameras to do so, each with a 120-degree field of view and infrared light.

The Fire runs on Fire OS 3.5, an Android-based operating system that's customized for Amazon. You can either choose to have a carousel-style app grid similar to the Kindle tablets, or a more Android-like look. The carousel version is slightly enhanced from the tablet version -- you'll be able to see the first few emails without having to launch the mail app, and the latest pictures of the camera app.More like an windows pin to start feature but with an android heart.

Toshiba Satellite Radius : Review

TOSHIBA SATELLITE RADIUS: big hybrid for big plans

Toshiba's new Radius hybrid looks familiar, but also adds a new twist to a popular design idea unlike the other laptops. It is a  15.6-inch laptop and  has a fold-back-style hinge that allows you to bend the screen back to  360 degrees which converts it to tablet mode. It's very similar to the fold-back hinge originally seen in the Lenovo Yoga  and later adopted by Dell, HP, and  many others.

The difference from other laptops of this form factor or this type have a lesser inch screen size compared to this which has a bigger 15.6-inch screen. The basic idea is still the same: fold the hinge back -- Toshiba calls it a flip-and-fold design -- and use the system as a thick, heavy tablet, or prop up the screen for easy viewing without the keyboard getting in the way.

The Toshiba has a  larger body, with the Radius  is that you're more likely to set it up in as a big-screen kiosk, using the upside-down keyboard base as a kickstand  than as a 15-inch tablet. Like the Yoga and its peers, the keyboard still sticks out from the back panel of the system in tablet mode, although both the keyboard and touchpad are deactivated automatically.

A hybrid with horsepower

Of course, being a "prosumer" device (I'm so sorry), Toshiba packed the Radius with some powerful innards to make good on that promise. Powering the pixels behind a 1920 x 1080 multi-touch display is either an Intel Core i5 processor (Haswell) to start. Though, a Core i7 model will be available at launch.
Toshiba Satellite Radius review
The frameless keyboard makes tablet mode only slightly less awkward
Playing supporting roles are 8GB of memory and up to 1TB worth of storage – no need for an SSD in a hybrid this large, save for speed's sake. Better yet, the laptop comes sporting 802.11ac Wi-Fi along with Intel WiDi for wireless broadcasting content to other screens.
Another big plus for a hybrid this large is that there is no dearth for hard connections, with three USB 3.0 ports – one with Toshiba's Sleep & Charge function – and an HDMI-out port with 4K support. Finally, an HD webcam with dual-array microphones rounds out the package.
Toshiba Satellite Radius review
There's plenty of ports here, for a hybrid

 Too Early verdict

When the Toshiba Satellite Radius hits stores  early this July, it will start at $925.99. That might sound like a lot of hole in the pocket, but considering that most similarly powered convertible hybrids cost more at smaller form factors, this doesn't sound like a bad deal.
Of course, that's assuming you're into the whole "hybrid" thing. This unique category has come a long way since Windows 8 graced us with its presence, with the Surface Pro 3 looking to be a shining example.
At the very least, the Satellite Radius is unique in that will be one of the few laptop-tablet hybrids on the market at 15.6 inches. Not to mention that the device has the hardware to back it up. Stay tuned for my full review to see whether this hybrid is more than just high-power.

Because this is a bigger, heavier system, there are a few design tweaks. A thin rubber bumper outlines the keyboard tray, keeping your keyboard keys from clacking against the table in kiosk mode, and a small magnetic connection helps hold the lid against the back of the body in tablet mode.
The Radius will have current-gen Intel Core i5 and i7 processors, and up to a 1TB HDD. It will be available in early July at Best Buy and Toshiba's online store, starting at $925.

ACER ASPIRE S7 :REVIEW

ACER ASPIRE S7 : REVIEW

                                   Aspire S7-392-6845

Acer releasing a new arsenal to its S7 series calling it  the S7-392. Comprising of 13-inch screen , it having the latest Haswell processors, a better battery of longer runtime . Acer retooled its cooling setup so that the fans supposedly operate much more quietly. It's the same laptop as the series : same keyboard, same thin and light design, same 1080p screen. So it is better then the rest of the series?

Look and feel

So if your looking for drastically new refresh of the S7 series,, this new model will dissapoint you in that . It features virtually the same design as the series of the last year. But fortunately that's a good thing: the original was damn gorgeous. But also thin, light, well-made.  . The laptop  continues to look fresh, even weeks after we tested it. At 2.87 pounds (up slightly from 2.86 last year), it's still one of the lightest 13-inch touchscreen laptops you're going to find. Even the Toshiba Kirabook, supposedly one of the lightest, weighs about a tenth of a pound more.
But part of it's also the way the S7 is put together. The hinge in the back is small, and unobtrusive, and sits flush with the lid. And while the sides are cut in a clean, blunt sort of way, they never feel too sharp. The corners, in particular, have been ever-so-slightly rounded so that they never dig into your palms when you're carrying it with two hands. Making an easy-to-hold laptop is about more than just using the lightest materials.

Though the S7 has mostly the same selection of ports as last time (two USB 3.0, an SD slot and a headphone jack), except the HDMI socket is now full-sized. Also, Acer's moved them around, shuffling some sockets from the right to the left, and vice versa. For starters, rather than have both USB connections on the right, there's now one on either edge, which seems like the more convenient setup to us. The SD slot has moved to the left edge, while the HDMI and headphone ports now sit on the right side. Not much to say here except that the power button is unusually difficult to push, to the point where it's not always obvious that the machine has registered your finger-press. Hopefully Acer will loosen that key up just a bit when it comes time to design the follow-up product.
Acer has refined its TwinAir cooling system so that the fans should make less noise than they did last time around. This unit also has Intel's Wireless Display technology, a requirement for new Ultrabooks.

Keyboard and trackpad

DNP Acer Aspire S7392 review
Acer hardly made any changes to the S7's backlit keyboard, which features flat, chiclet-style buttons, done up in a metal finish to match the palm rest. The keys offer slightly more travel this time (1.3mm instead of 1mm), but they still feel pretty flat. Even so, they're backed by a sturdy underlying panel, and most of the buttons are actually big enough to hit without looking (the Caps Lock and Tab keys being notable exceptions). All told, it's still easy to type on, despite its flatness and a few shrunken keys.
The touch feels the same as of the S7 as of its slightly tweaked and feels  quite good when windows 8 is used and is quite comfortable and touchpad is quite responsive and has  a good finish

Display and sound

The S7's  new model will be available with 2,560 x 1,440 resolution .  It's as lovely as ever, with arresting colors, fine details and a remarkable immunity to screen glare ). It comes with a 1080p screen and you don't have choice but to go with a 1080p screen, the viewing angles alone make it the best full HD screen we've seen on an Ultrabook. Truly, these colors just won't quit: whether you watch from off to the side or with the screen dipped forward, the saturation and contrast look about the same as they do when you're watching straight-on.
Unfortunately, the audio quality doesn't nearly match the visuals. . We finally settled on 75 / 100, but even then the volume wasn't quite loud enough to rise above the sound of an air conditioner blasting across the room. Still, that small concession in volume meant we could listen to a live recording of Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck and actually make out all the instruments (and not just Clapton's electric guitar).

Performance
The system is well equipped, giving the user speedy boot times and app launches. The S7-392-6411 is one of the higher performers among systems with a Core i5 processor. The system's 3D scores are improved over systems with 3rd generation Intel HD Graphics, though for hardcore gaming you'll want a specialized gaming rig that trades everyday speed for gaming prowess. This system should last you the three to five years before you replace it with something newer.
Acer Aspire S7-392-6411
Speaking of lasting, the S7-392-6411 has a battery rundown time of eight and half hours (8:27), which will get you through a transcontinental flight, with hours left over for when you get there. As long as you let the system sleep when you're not using it, the S7-392-6411 should last the entire day. This is hours longer than last years model (4:45). The S7-392-6411 also performs better overall than our last Editors' Choice for high-end ultrabooks, the Asus Zenbook Prime Touch UX31A-BHI5T ($1,199), which got lower scores on the Handbrake, PCMark, 3D, and battery tests. The S7-392-6411 outlasts its closest rival in features and thinness, the Sony VAIO Pro 13 by two hours.
The Acer Aspire S7-392-6411's performance punctuates the system's excellent feature set, thinness, design, build quality, low weight, and general excellence. It is more than a worthy replacement of the Zenbook Prime Touch as our new Editors' Choice for high-end ultrabooks. Sure, you are paying a bit more for the thin chassis and sturdy build materials, but unlike the VAIO Pro 13, the Acer Aspire S7-392-6411 doesn't skimp on battery life in the quest to be the thinnest, lightest laptop around. The Acer Aspire S7-392-6411 therefore gains one of our highest overall scores and Editors' Choice award.

Pros
  • Nice build materials
  • Great viewing angles
  • Fast performance, longer battery life
  • Improved touchpad
  • Now runs quietly
Cons
  • Enormous power brick
  • No 2,560 x 1,440 option in the US
  • Power button is difficult to press
  • Expensive for what it is
Bottom Line
If you're looking for a  laptop to show off, but want to do  real work in Windows 8, the Acer Aspire S7 392 series  is the ultrabook you want at the top of the list. It's the current pinnacle of the ultrabook trend and shows the brilliance that the PC makers can return under Intel's increasingly stringent standards for ultrabooks.Comes with a good graphics but a good portability and is hell lighter everyone can play with it.Still packs the power.Decent battery life as well as good ram as well.

iOS 8 and SWIFT

iOS  8 and A Lot More

iOS 8 was unveiled at WWDC 14 which was quite a buzz and we did cover pretty much in the previous post about the new OSX and all the new features which are quite similar. So in this post we continue from the previous one and going to talk about some amazing thigs about apples mobile OS and a whole lot info and great stuff for developers. So let's get started .

iOS 8

iOS 8 release date, news and features

The iOS 8 was much expected as the WW new version would be DC banners should 8 symbol and thus was pretty much confirmed that the unveiled . The iOS 8 didn't come with any major announcements , but just some tweaks and some features not upto that level but some good one's.iOS now let's users actually have widgets in the notification like android and displays even on the lock screen. The widgets are good looking but gives users more ease .But one thing Apple did is to make it interactive even from lock screen which is quite awesome. You can directly send a message from the taskbar by pulling it out and many more interactions without switching to apps.

Another great feature of the iOS is interaction of plugins by third party apps which make it quite an interesting for sharing as well as connectivity. For example you can open a Russian webpage and with the help of Bing plugin  the app translates in line with out any new pages to open, Same that of photos which once edited is directly saved so no extra copies of it.With that the Spotlight as we saw in new Mac OS X is also improved and can search even on the web as well as contents.

 iOS 8 interactive notifications
iOS 8 is also seen improving in iMessages as you can now send even voice and video message a straight head on with WhatsApp which still rules even on the iPhone. And you can now access to your favourite chat head directly from the multi-tasker screen.  Keyboard is smarter, but the major announcement is that now you can install third party keyboards. There's anew family column  like WP in iOS now which helps you connect with the family. With that iDrive and Continuty which are features of the OS X is given in detail in previous version.

Apple announced it's Health app as well as Home App which is quite simple and just plugs in with other apps if you want and produce the result in an efficient manner it also connects with  all your home as well as fitness devices respectively.

 iOS 8 smart home

iOS 8 will be compatible with:

iPhone 4s
iPhone 5
iPhone 5c
iPhone 5s
iPod touch 5th generation
iPad 2
iPad with Retina display
iPad Air
iPad mini
iPad mini with Retina display

SWIFT

Apple has officially dropped objective -C  their most used language , No this is not some car name or any new product it's Apple's new programming language  called Swift. Now Apple claims it's much faster than objective language.

Swift has  features to make your code more expressive:
  • Closures unified with function pointers
  • Tuples and multiple return values
  • Generics
  • Fast and concise iteration over a range or collection
  • Structs that support methods, extensions, protocols.
  • Functional programming patterns, e.g.: map and filter

Swift has also added playground in Apple's chest .With playgrounds, you can:

  • Design a new algorithm, watching its results every step of the way
  • Create new tests, verifying they work before promoting into your test suite
  • Experiment with new APIs to hone your Swift coding skills
They have also added Metal and sprite kit and Scene kit for all game developers.
As well as all the API's and it also includes Touch ID API  and lot's more.

WWDC 14 : WHAT CAME AND WHAT WAS EXPECTED??

WWDC 14 :

As Expected the WWDC started off at the highest note .The introduction video was awesome and just touched the heart that what i have to say. Please check it out really amazing.
Okay now WWDC 14 was hyped as we expected and to tell you short and sweet is that it really didn't impact alot on the viewers as for developers it was a great deal.As for the normal joe (guy)  it is just a software update .Speaking of all that and much much more , Let's dive in.

As I told you that some announcements were quite sure at my recent post of the rumours and some were pretty new.We 'll look at each announcement and some things which are new .Unfortunately no iPhone or any other Apple product was launched. And also no Siri upgrades as Microsoft Cortana is not going to see any competition when it is launched That was a biggy but as said in rumours it was definite as Apple always saves the best for the holiday grabs.

Mac OS X (Yosemite)

This OS X version has completely new UI with the all new release as Yosemite named OS.Though speaking of design Apple has really not invented a new design it has just taken the design of the iOS 8 and just made it comfortable enough for the PC users as it didn't copy-paste , but in Lehman's language just improved it.Still the transparency of the iOS 8 works as charming with the OS X .
It also redesigned the Safari as well as the Mail in whole new way. Taking first of the Safari it's taken whole  address bar and whole of them to the top and came up with all new tab view bar which is quite different but no sub-par.But there's more expect the whole design gizmag the performance of the new safari has also increased quite much and also gives you 2 hrs of another battery juice. And also improved private browsing.

The Mail is also kind of redone but not so much as it just allows  send large attachments more easily with a new feature called MailDrop  (quite likely Google's Drive) . So all the tedious work has gone. Also Apple is doing a lot of head on competition with Google on it's drive.
It also announced Google's drive competition the iCloud Drive .Works similar to the Google drive but has some features features like tags and efficient managing of your files
Mac OS X also allows you now to make CALLS AND SMS and iMessages on your Mac so no needing of touching your phone while you are working .I'll say that's a good feature as it help you not to get up and reach the phone as well as not disturbing your concentration.Except one slightly problem is how is it going to do the call and networking carrier thing so smoothly.
It also introduced another great feature called HandOff it just does this simple connection over wifi hotspot or over synchronising the last thing you have done with either your mac or iPad or iPhone as is just goona pop up so that you can edit it on the go and also reminds what your doing. It also has instant wifi-hotspot now which can connect to devices seamlessly .

And I almost forgot the Spotlight . Just a small feature but helps you find the thing son your mac so seamlessly and also searches the net for you .It also gives a card type info as per your views.

AND I AM DOING THE iOS 8 AND THE NEW PROGRAMMING LANGUAGE IN THE NEXT POST. This was going to be big if i posted all in one.

iPhone 6 and WWDC : Leaked and Most Rumored

The iPhone 6 and WWDC 2014 : what to expect?

Apple iPhone 6 (Mockup) 03

It is been rumored allot as the Apple WWDC event 2014 is nearing closer and closer and the rumors are also heating up .  The most rumored iPhone 6 is at it's best high time as the event gets closer. The heat is going up as there are tons of rumors of iPhone 6 . But some decline it saying it will come in the September event. As of know we are not sure , but we can show you the latest rumors.

The most famous leaked images of the iPhone 5s and 5c were actually leaked previously by a blogger and the leak was perfect .So a lot of expectations that this blogger would tell us about iPhone 6 .As he has posted some images of the new iPhone 6 , there's quite a big buzz of the screen size increasing to a whooping 4.8 inch size and also rumored to come with a 5.5 inch size as well(highly not possible) .As always the hardware are not as leaked as the design.

It is leaked that the iPhone 6 will be much thinner the the iPhone 5s and will have a curved design like than of an iPod and the first versions of the iPhone .But as we said nothing but only the design is leaked.A statement from Eddy Cue  told the Code Conference Wednesday evening that Apple’s scheduled product releases through the end of this year are “the best product pipeline” he has seen in 25 years at the company. . This gives rise to another rumor that the iPhone will be released in September. This rumor is more supported as the German carrier also reported the same. And the fact that all the versions after iPhone 4 were released in September so this thing is more likely.

So time will only tell .

What to expect at WWDC :

iOS 8:

From what we've seen and heard, expect iOS 8 to be a refinement of the software already running on your phone, a sanding down of rough edges paired with a smattering of new features. It is going to more concentrate on the person as well as the fitness as a major issue now-days.Going to redesign it all as the rumor suggest. And all new smarter Siri is also expected as Microsoft blew all away it it's personal assistant Cortana , it is likely that Apple will stepUp this region also in this year.

OS X "Syrah"

It is to be expected that the next OS X will be more open-feeling OS X with plenty of white space replete with all the desktop niceties (the Finder, Mission Control) we've grown so used to. For a company whose products get outed by sources and supply chain trolls on the regular, it's a welcome surprise to see that OS X's new look will be a, well, surprise. For now, anyway.

 A Home All in One??

It's unclear whether or not Apple even plans to craft any of its own home-friendly hardware, but it's hardly a surprise to see the company trying to wrangle players in the space. After all, Apple Stores already stock their fair share of internet-of-things goodies and analysts only expect the demand for devices that enable that sort of connected life to grow. We're hoping against hope that Apple is pulling a pump fake to draw attention away from a meatier announcement, but our inner pragmatists are expecting to be vindicated

And might be new Mac Mini's as well as new Macbooks expected
