NVIDIA TEGRA X1
Nvidia this year at the CES 2015 is shacking the hardware technology with its new chip. On Sunday Nvidia revealed the Nvidia Tegra X1 , which CEO Jen-Hsun Huang described it as a tiny workhouse for smart-phones as well as cars.Nvidia is trying to push it's way into automotive market with chips for driver's assistant and entertainment systems as it is getting complicated systems day by day.
Nvidia unveiled that the automakers can use Nvidia's Drive PX platform that could make self-driving cars a step closer .Nvidia also unveiled the Drive CX platform which can provide a sounded up and infotainment displays in the cars. Drive CX will make the touchscreen displays more refined as well as can provide 3D maps for better navigation.
Nvidia Tegra X1 features Nvidia’s latest GPU architecture, significantly reducing the release delay between mobile and dedicated GPUs.The Tegra X1 processor utilizes Nvidia's Maxwell PC architecture for graphics processing units that produces a whole teraflop of computational power, or 1 trillion floating-point calculations per second. That's equivalent to the human brain performing one calculation a second for more than 31,000 years. Tegra X1 is Nvidia's second high-end graphics chip for mobile markets after Tegra K1.
The Tegra X1 is a giant leap of innovation in the processing world , Tegra X1 based on the Maxwell has a 256 core - GPU with Open GL 4.4 and DX 12 . Tegra X1 has 8 core CPU and all are 64 bit ARM processors. That's actually more than Intel core- i7 . The tegra X1 can play 4K videos at 60 frames per second, H.264. Combing all this the Tegra comes in just 20 nm SoC .
In the words of Nvidia's CEO "this is the first mobile super-chip".Nvidia has stated that the Tegra X1 will come out very soon.Seeing this the Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 810 and even Apple's A8X don't even stand a chance against it.
