GS60 GHOST: IT IS A GHOST IN A ULTRABOOK BODY
It's a market that most feel is going down due to company's taking off interest. But every once in a while a gaming product comes out , showing that it is still there.Gaming laptops have seen a decline and mostly only a few names are competing in this market. But it seems to be the trend that the ultra-portable factor is amazed and everyone wants the most of it.As Gamers want a full fledged gaming PC performance , companies are trying to lure them with giving them ultra portability also.
Enough analysis let's see where this stands??
As MSI have previously shown us their capability in gaming ,let's see if they raise the bar .
Until now, the company's lightweight series consisted of one machine Stealth . It was praised for being thin, light and having a more premium feel than most gaming laptops. Enter the GS60 Ghost , it is everything you loved about the Stealth but with a 15-inch display and NVIDIA's new GeForce GTX 800M series GPU
APPEARANCE :
As most of you think that looks only matter to those who just sit and watch movies or listen to songs , you're wrong every gamer wants his gear to look great and have a premium feel so that the competitors are filled with jealousy after seeing it. The GS60 Ghost does justice to it with its simple design. It has no wacky or unwatched sharp edges or some futuristic design. It has a simple mettalic design at the back and having said that it is also prone to many scratches.Air vents circle around the back of the GS60's slim 0.78-inch frame, quietly teasing the graphical prowess hidden within.Though it is a gaming laptop it is quite thin and light.Though MSI ships with a case to protect it from scratches.
KEYBOARD AND TRACKPAD :
This is were the work comes along it is were there are all the working fingers. Though you might not consider this important but for a gamer the easiness of the keyboard and the track-pa is vital. So MSI is going a point down on this one: MSI has provided it with chiclet layout, there's nothing wrong with its full-sized chiclet layout, and it's
certainly not missing any key functions, but the key-caps are marred by
an ugly, sharply angled and slightly oversized font . And it is really ugly when you have a look at it.
The notebook's Steel Series-sourced keyboard gives users control over not
just the robust LED backlight, but also the specific function of each
individual key. The included SteelSeries Engine can reprogram any key
(except F1-F12) to launch applications, run customized macros or simply
emulate a different keyboard function.
The TrackPad of the GS60 Ghost is quite similar to all the ultrabook in the market. You will get a shock when hearing ; it's button-less. Another letdown, but the fact is most the gamers don't use the pads while they still believe that the traditional mouse is the best.
MSI's implementation seemed stiff and awkward at first; it tracks fingers well enough, but only right-clicks if you press down in the lower-right-hand corner. Turn on multi-touch gestures and two-finger clicking, however, and the pad blossoms into a productivity wunderkind.Unfortunately, it's on a gaming laptop.

DISPLAY AND SOUND :
Wide viewing angles, bright colors and a non-reflective, matte screen:
everything we want in a laptop display and GS60 has got it all. MSI claims the Ghost's
15.3-inch panel will display accurate colors to any viewer within 85
degrees of the screen . All told, it's bright, beautiful and glare-free is far more important than anything else.
So MSI has given with the default drivers and additional sound boost for the Ghost which gives an above average experience in the sound department.Without the aid of the included Sound Blaster Cinema equalizer, the Ghost's audio has all the fidelity of an AM radio. The sound system does not distort, crackle or buzz at high volumes. There's nothing wrong with them, just that it needed a bit extra as it enhances your gaming performance.
PERFORMANCE AND BATTERY LIFE:
NVIDIA has a habit of outfitting its mobile chips with a mixture of new
and old architectures, and its new 800M series is no exception: The
GeForce GTX 860M at the GS60's core happens to have both Maxwell and Kepler variants, differentiated by clock speed and total core count. NVIDIA says the two chips should perform on the same level.
Saints Row IV, Thief and Battlefield 4 all maintained a 30 fps average at ultra high quality, with their lowest frame counts staying in the high twenties. BioShock Infinite did even better; it held a 44 fps average on its highest graphics settings. Even The Witcher 2, a game known for taxing GPUs, toed the line: 33 frames per second at its maximum setting
Though the battery life is not supar as we expected but falls at an average on around 3 hrs but falls short of long-lasting outliers like Razer's third-generation Blade.
THE WORD :
It's not a Razer Blade , but it plays a significant role in gaming laptops; gamers who want the performance and the capabilties of a desktop ,but want it portable. The MSI GS60 GHOST fits right in between them. It is a thin and a performance packed laptop. and most importantly FUN to use.
The MSI's
GS60: the unreleased Ghost Pro configuration. It's everything the
current model is and more, teasing enough upgrades to
conceivably push the Ghost's performance off the fence of 30 fps
gameplay. As is, the GS60 is a solid option for folks looking for a slim
gaming rig, but a more powerful, identical machine is just around the
corner. So if you are willing to wait and need a much higher spec the Pro is your choice then, other than that this looks quite promising and delivers too
